Abhishek Sharma to direct 'Shaukeen' remake

Director Abhishek Sharma of 'Tere Bin Laden' fame will be directing the remake version of 1982 hit comedy film 'Shaukeen'.

Filmmaker Rumi Jaffrey, who directed 'God Tussi Great Ho', was supposed to direct the remake of the Basu Chatterjee film but he opted out of it due to date issues. "I will be directing the remake version of 'Shaukeen'. I am a huge fan of this film.


Unfortunately, I cannot talk much about the remake," Abhishek told PTI without divulging any details. Earlier, this film was supposed to start in 2013 but got delayed to next year.

Actors Akshay Kumar and Nargis Fakri will stepped into the shoes of Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri for the film. 'Shaukeen' also starred veterans Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and A K Hangal, Now, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Anupam Kher will be reprising the role of the three old men. After the success of 'Tere Bin Laden', Abhishek has just wrapped up the sequel to the film titled 'Tere Bin Laden 3'.

The first part of the film was a humorous take on Osama Bin Laden and the upcoming film is set after his death. The 2010 laugh riot starred Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar and Pradhuman Singh in lead roles. While the second installment will have TV actor Manish Paul, besides Ali Zafar doing a special appearance in the film.
