We have not meant it in a derogatory way: Ali Zafar

Ali Zafar comes clean on his dig at cricketer Shahid Afridi in upcoming film 'Total Siyappa' co-starring Yaami Gautam

Humour can hurt sometimes. And Ali Zafar knows that well.

In the promo of his forthcoming film, there is a scene where he and co-star Yaami Gautam are poking fun at Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi. The Pakistani singer-turned-actor, however, doesn't wish to worsen the situation.

Ali, who is from Pakistan himself, mentioned that Afridi is one of the most adored cricketers back home and he is certain that he'll take the humour in right spirit.

The crooner-actor says, `The scene is representative of an easy banter two friends are having. We have not meant it in a derogatory way. I hope Shahid Afridi also sees the trailer and laughs at it.`

Soon after the teaser released, the makers clarified that the line is made in jest and they are hoping the cricketer takes it sportingly. `The line was only added as it contributes to the narrative and tone of the film. Total Siyappa is high on comic timing and the comment only added that element to the film,` sums up the actor-singer.
