Legendary Asha Parekh not happy with present day movie lyrics

Legendary actress Asha Parekh is happy as for as the technology advancement in the film industry has taken place. But at the same time she is disappointed with the lyrics of the present day songs.

"Today there is a difference in the way film industry works. Technically we have advanced. But the lyrics of the songs are not so good. The lyrics in our time were beautiful," Parekh said.


"The dancing is modernised today. I hope there is more of folk, classical dance in films. The people of today must not forget India and our traditions," she said.

A tile bearing the hand print of the 71-year-old actress was unveiled today. It will later be installed at 'Walk of the Stars' promenade in Bandra.

"It's an honour to get this. I am touched and grateful to everyone for the support," she said.

The actress started her career as a child artiste under screen name Baby Asha Parekh in film 'Aasmaan' in 1952. Parekh's first lead role was in 'Dil Deke Dekho'(1959) with Shammi Kapoor, after which never she looked back.

The actress has worked with biggies like Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, Jitendra, Manoj Kumar and Dharmendra during her illustrious career.

The event to honour her was attended by actors Rishi Kapoor, Jeetendra, Helen, Dimple Kapadia, Waheeda Rehman, Jackie Shroff, besides her family members.

Asha Parekh unveils her hand impression tile

Yesteryears actress Asha Patekh Friday unveiled her hand impression tile in the presence of close friends and celebrities.

"I am extremely touched by the UTV Stars' gesture to honour me. I am grateful to everyone who appreciates my contribution to the Indian film industry," Asha said at the unveiling of her hand impression tile.

The tile will be installed at the UTV Stars' Walk of the Stars at Bandra Bandstand Promenade.

Celebrities Dimple Kapadia, Waheeda Rehman, Jeetendra and Jackie Shroff among others attended the ceremony.

Waheeda, a very good friend of Asha, said: "She is a wonderful human being and she deserves this. I know her for quite some time and she is like my sister. I am very happy for her."

Asha, 71, started her career in 1959 with hit romantic drama "Dil Deke Dekho" and her chemistry with Shammi Kapoor was really appreciated. Thanks to the film, she became a star. In her decades long career she featured in films like "Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai", "Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon", "Teesri Manzil " and "Kati Patang".
